Endlich! Zwölf lang Jahre musste ich warten um mir die Burg Eltz mal von innen angucken zu können! Vor zwölf jahren (ungefähr)war ich zwar schon einmal persönlich da, allerdings mussten meine Eltern und ich die Burgführung vorzeitig abbrechen, da ich (damals sechs Jahre alt) leider dringenst die nächste Toilette aufsuchen musste. den Erker durfte ich leider nicht benutzen.

Ich werd verrückt! Die gute alte Burg Eltz! Wie lange ist es her seit ich sie das letzte mal gesehen habe? Als Kind und Schüler öfters, aber nun. Stecke jetzt in Frankfurt am Main. I left a message on the 4th of september regarding the possible link between our name and the castle, but i've since discovered the information i gave was incorrect. I thought our family came from somewhere in Alsace, but i've discovered that we actually emigrated from Hattenheim (spelling?) in the county of Nassau, which is much closer to Castle Eltz and Koblenz but not so close to Alsace! We landed in Tasmania, Australia sometime in the 1800's (I forgot to ask Dad about the date!). I've had an email from someone already who read my last message, and I was thrilled. My Dad also was given a tourist poster of the castle which we can now show around to all our friends and tell them this is our ancestral castle! Hope to actually see it one day.

Have just been to see the real thing having included it on our itinerary after visiting this site. We got off the train in Moselkern at 7am and walked straight to the castle. What a sight first thing in the morning. When we arrived at the castle there wasn't a person to be seen and the tranquility was astonishing. We will recommend it to all our friends. Thanks for all the work involved in its upkeep, it's definately worth it.

My father and mother Dr and Mrs. John A. Keyton,Sr.(Captain) lived in Berz Eltz for over a year after the first World War. The Eltz family lived in the castle at the time and my mother and father became good friends of theirs. Both my father and mother spoke fluent German. I remember them taling about the castle many,many times. Mother said" it was the most beautiful place she had ever seen". Last week my sister found a postcard with a picture of Berg Eltz on it that mother had sent to her mother. The date was May 16,1920. I typed Berg Eltz into the computer and your site came up. For many years my mother has been researching our family history, and only recently have we discovered our ancestral links to Eltz castle. I was thrilled to discover our family name in the history of the castle. My father's ancestors emigrated from Germany to Australia in the 1800's, and although I can't remember the name of the town (although my mother has told me often enough!) I know that we came from the region of Alsace, which was German territory at the time. Thrilled to look around your website, hope one day I may be able to visit Eltz castle.

Wir sind mit dem Wohnmobil nachts zum Parkplatz gefahren; morgens freundlich vom Parkplatzwärter geweckt worden und überaus freundlich in der Burg empfangen worden! Malte (6) und Thorben (3) haben unvergessliche 2 Stunden auf der Burg verbracht; den ganzen Sonntag haben sie in LEGO die Burg "nachgespielt"! Was thrilled to find this website today. On my only trip to Europe in 1982, Burg Eltz was the first place I visited. Had seen it on a calendar picture and managed to find out how to get there (not easy in the days before the internet). Took the train to Moselkern and couldn't understand why we couldn't see a castle from the town. One hour and a fascinating hike through the woods later, Burg Eltz magically appeared above me through a break in the trees. It will remain one of the best memories of my 3 weeks in Europe for the rest of my life. Someday, I hope to return, but until then I will visit through your wonderful website. Thanks for the memories!

Ich war am 1.August 2000 nach einer Wanderung durch das Elzbachtal zum soundsovielten Mal auf Burg Eltz. Dank sei den Damen in der oberen Schänke (die untere Schänke wurde gerade geschlossen) - ich bekam den letzten Eintopf und ein kühles Weizenbier. Die Abendsonne hüllte alles in ein goldenes Licht und ringsum war es still und friedlich - es schien, als wollte die stolze Burg unser lärmendes Zeitalter einfach ignorieren. Wirklichkeit gewordener Traum! Ich komme wieder!

Die Seite ist toll gestaltet, aber die Augen ermüden sehr schnell. Weiße kleine Schrift auf dunklem Hintergrund sind sehr anstrengend. Nach 5 Min konnte ich nicht mehr lesen. Nachdem ich mir meine Anfahrtskizze anzeigen ließ gab es keine Möglichkeit, auf die Seiten zurückzukommen (nur mit Browser-Funktion "Back", viele nicht erfahrene User würden wg. der Abwesenheit der Navigationshilfen nicht zurechtkommen. Die Burg selbst hat mir super gefallen!!!

Was there on the 30th of April just after seeing the huge preparations for May Day on the Mosel. Other than finding out how old I was hiking through the Eltz Forest getting there, I wasn't a bit disappointed. It has been near 30 years that I have been trying to get to that part of germany for the visit. Those of you who do read this, make the journey. I saw a few castles on the last trip and this stands far above the rest. I am a professional photographer and am doing a showing with just Burg Eltz & the town of Zell (Mosel) as the subject.

We visited your incredible castle this spring after reading about it in Rick Steve's guidebook. We got lost on the way there, following some local people whom we wronly assumed knew the way better than we. After a VERY long walk, we reached the castle, and were immediately enchanted. It was worth the walk! Even tho we do not speak German, we found it facinating and were glad for the English Fact sheet. We will remember this part of our vacation always-our first trip to Europe, and the only intact castle we were able to visit. Thank you for a great experience.

Burg Eltz is the most impressive castle I have ever seen in my life. This is truly a great page for Burg Eltz enthusiasts. Having visited the castle over a dozen times while in Germany, I can honestly say that this website does it justice. I wish it were possible to purchase items from the giftshop via the internet. I'm not certain how much more costly it would be, but I'd also like it if the images were linked to larger ones. Americans, don't miss this beautiful castle!!
