| The tourist town of Münstermaifeld lies, as shown in its name, on the Maifeld, about 20 km from Koblenz and only 5 km from Eltz castle. This historical country town was first recorded in documents in the year 905 AD. It has been a municipality for over 700 years. There are 3,000 inhabitants and objects of interest include the historical centre with the magnificent church that was built in the 13th and 14th centuries. The restored Gunpowder tower is also worth a visit. A variety of leisure activities are on offer such as the swimming pool complex and hiking and bicycle paths through the Elz valley and good connections with the Moselle and Eltz castle. Needless to say, there is also much good country food available. | |
