Moselkern

Not far from Eltz castle lies Moselkern, a beautiful tourist spot at the confluence of the Elz and the Moselle. Celtic, Roman and Frankish remains show its eventful past. Of particular note is the Merowingian Crucifix, the oldest example of the crucified Christ north of the Alps. The town hall is a special attraction. It is the oldest in the Moselle region and is available for hire for celebrations and special occasions. Having its own chapel it is especially practical for weddings. The area is especially good for eating and drinking; there are many good hotels and B&B’s and plenty of guest houses and wine bars. Image
