Treis-Karden

This inviting tourist spot is composed of the two small towns of Treis and Karden. It is near Koblenz on the banks of the Moselle. As an intersection point on the important trade routes between the Eifel and Hunsrück, Treis-Karden was settled by the Celts, Romans, Treverers and Franks. This picture book town is full of timber-framed houses from between the 16th and 18th centuries and many other residential and vineyard workers houses built out from local quarried stone. Of particular interest is the romantic church of St. Castor and the museum. A network of hiking paths, mini-golf, water sports, an open-air heated pool and fishing all make this an excellent spot for sport and relaxation. The area is also known for its culinary specialities; there is a famous wine festival and wonderful food. Karden
